Nissan R90 Rebuild

Imagine the scene... It's a warm sunny day in May. You're at the beautiful picturesque Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium and you've just taken to the track in your freshly prepared classic Group C racing car.

Then twenty minutes later, this happens...

Katsu Kubota picked up a puncture during the first practice session of the meeting. He left the track at the Blanchimont corner and hit the barrier with RH side of the car. Katsu luckily walked away unhurt, but the car sustained heavy damage.

When the car returned to our workshop, it was time to survey the damage. Apart from the obvious damage to the front and rear bodywork, there was mechanical damage too.

All rear wishbones and aprights were replaced. The impact caused damage to the gearbox casing and driveshaft. The rear wing and supports were destroyed as was a large section of the under floor.

Thankfully the carbon fibre tub sustained no damage, though the O/S body and door were replaced. The nose box and radiator were also damaged and new front wishbones were needed on one corner. More to follow...
